Scripture Context: Luke 24:13-32, 46-48

Beloved Friends,

The Godhead (God the Father, God the Son—Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost) brings a word of revelation with remembrance of the divine gospel message about Jesus Christ, His purpose coming to the world, God the Father love and Jesus Christ love, a promise of life and eternity, and instructions for the church body under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, to take our rightful place in this world without titles, but “witnesses” being the “light” and “hope” in a world filled with darkness, evil, and uncertainty, winning the lost. Jesus Christ presents a question to us all without racial or culture barriers; the saints, sinners, and backsliders, in which the response to the question, brings us all into a stance of evaluation. Let “US” take a journey on the “Road to Emmaus” as Jesus Christ communes with us.

In the context of chapter read, Cleopas and the other disciple coming into the village of Emmaus, communicating and reasoning with themselves in disbelief, what happen to Jesus Christ after His resurrection. Jesus Christ drew near to them to hear their conversation and walked with them, but they did not recognize who Jesus was, their eyes were blinded. In this context, Jesus asked them what manner of communication in sorrow they were having with one another. Cleopas, thinking Jesus Christ to be a stranger, started to explain all the things happened, the things come to pass concerning Christ. And Jesus asked a profound question, “What Things?” This was a time of disbelief, chaos, uncertainty, and His eleven chosen disciples were shut up for fear of what would happen to them for association as a disciple of Christ. They too were in sorrow, wondering what happened to Christ, not believing. In the context, Jesus Christ begins to expound on the Word of God from Moses to His death, and resurrection to the two disciples. These two disciples asked Jesus to abide with them in their house, hungry for the fellowship of remembering Jesus; it is when Jesus Christ, broke bread, and blessed it, they recognized, who He was, and their hearts burned for Him. Last, in the Luke 24:46-48, Jesus Christ enters where the elven chosen disciples were shut up for fear, He reminds them of the Truth, and commissions them, to go into all the world preaching the gospel message of repentance and remission of sins, being a witness of Him. Jesus the risen King of Kings, is asking today, “What Things?” Are stopping the gospel message declared throughout the world. “What Things?” Has the church become “silos” of the gospel message, in isolation. “What Things?

Let “US” now connect three other passages of scriptures, to the question “What Things?”

Let us journey to the parable of The Lost Coin (Luke 15:8-10):

  • In the context, Jesus gives the parable of “The Lost Coin” with a view of a woman losing one piece of silver. In this context Jesus instructs on the importance of one sinner lost and found is of great value to the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus instructs as witnesses of the gospel message, to “light” our candle of the gospel message, make a sweep, diligently sweeping, and looking until the piece of lost coin is found. This view of the parable insinuates within our physical houses, houses of temple of worship, the sanctuary, we will find the lost. “What Things?” Are stopping the saints, the just, the righteous, the witnesses of Jesus Christ, lighting our candles of salvation, identifying and making a clean sweep, seeking diligently until the lost is found. “What Things?” In this world has gotten the saints off focus of winning the lost starting in our own houses, in our own churches, all dressed up, but lost. This witness, tell you of “Truth” just as Jesus, we all must take the position of this woman, sweeping diligently, looking diligently, winning the one lost soul diligently, knowing there is joy in the presence of all the Angels in Heaven over one sinner who repents and comes to salvation. “What Things?” Are keeping us blinded from the reality, Jesus Christ, is looking to see who representing His Kingdom is seeking the lost, and rejoicing over the one lost who comes to repentance. “What Things?

Let us journey to the Call of Salvation and New Birth (John 3:3, 9-19):

  • In this context of scripture, Jesus Christ is witnessing to Nicodemus who traveled by night to get an understanding of salvation and understanding of Jesus Christ. Jesus in John 3:3, “answered and said unto him. Veril, verily, I say unto thee, “except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” A new birth. Nicodemus, a teacher of Israel, only teaching the law of Moses, did not perceive Jesus Christ as the coming Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament and manifested in the New Testament, salvation. “What Things?” Are keeping the preachers, teachers, and witnesses from declaring the Word of God. Jesus Christ declared the gospel message lifting up Himself, without a watered-down salvation message. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). By and through Him, the world might be saved, that is humankind might be saved. The “witnesses” must declare the Truth, “He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but He that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:19). “What Things?” Is blocking the Truth, blocking the salvation of eternal life. “What Things?” Are stopping me from letting go of death, a sinful life, crossing over to life more abundantly in Jesus Christ. There is a Heaven and Hell, both are prepared places of body and soul. The Apostle Peter, 2 Peter 2:7-10, tells us there is a day of judgment and a day of rejoicing, herein, Jesus in John 14:1-3, tells of the promise of Heaven a prepared place for His people and eternal life, and He will come back for His people. Hence, the Apostle Paul admonishes the saints and everyone who will come to salvation, 1 Corinthians 15:52, “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” “What Things?

Let us journey to The Woman Caught in Adultery (John 8:3-11):

  • In this passage, those representing the “church” Scribes and Pharisees, those appeared to be just and righteous, bringing in the Temple of God, presenting to Jesus, to bring charge against this woman caught in adultery, to be stoned by the Law of Moses to death. In this context, Jesus Christ is in the midst, being tested, Jesus knowing the Law of Moses and the Law of Sin. Jesus stooped down, wrote on the ground as to not hear the accusers; Perhaps, He wrote, “What Things?” Perhaps, He wrote, “all have sinned fallen from the grace of God.” Perhaps, He wrote, “everyone is born into sin by nature.” These Scribes and Pharisees, asked again, the second time, Jesus Christ “lifted” up Himself, I am “lifting up Jesus.” Jesus said, “He that without sin among you, let him cast a stone at her first” (John 8:7). He stooped down again, He wrote, in the ground, perhaps, “What Things?” Jesus, is saying today, “What Things?” In this time of dispensation, keeping the gospel message declared, JESUS SAVES! Last, lifting Jesus again, Jesus lifted Himself up, and asked the woman, “where are those accusers?” “What Things?” Jesus Christ is saying to many people today, lost in sin, “come to me, and sin no more.” He is saying, “I am the Light of the world” (John 8:11).  “What Things?

Concluding, Jesus Christ is the new covenant, redeemed mankind with “pure blood” with His death on the cross. Jesus Christ, the coming Messiah of the Old Testament, the manifested Messiah in the New Testament. Jesus Christ in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God. Jesus Christ, conceived by the Holy Ghost (Spirit), the conception of life without sin, implanted in a virgin, Mary, because “With God all things are possible.” Jesus Christ the rejected, the betrayed, the ridiculed, the mocked, the suffering, the persecuted, died on the Cross, Christ. Jesus Christ, who rose on the third day, just as prophesied with all power and authority in Heaven and earth, over life and death. Jesus Christ the only means of salvation and redemption of eternal life. And, this same Jesus will come again for His people, everyone who believes and accepts Him as the Son of God, and salvation from sin. The “Living Hope” of promise and faith. Ending, Romans 10:9-10, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
