"For you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?” (1 Corinthians 3:3)

Today, we are going to examine the word "division" and how it relates to the practical and biblical principles for "Spiritual" growth. In essence, "division" as it relates to people--is a body of communities, families, and members of a particular society with a condition of disunion, discord, and separation. Division is further defined as the act or process of diving anything into parts; The state of being so divided; That which divides or keeps apart; Difference in opinion or feeling; Variance; Alienation; State of distinction; Discord that splits a group; An army unit large enough to sustain combat; An administrative unit of government or business; and Church body.

In the business world, it is called "morale" a key quality, insight, and ability to build positive versus negative relationships which affects the environment and climate within an organization. It is a leadership quality that defines the ability to look beyond the superficial, to reevaluate communication channels, and the culture condition. The "division" has a direct connection between "morale" effecting the emotional state of well-being overtime. This "division" has a negative approach known by the platforms, outcomes within the surrounding and global atmospheres, effect on the organizations or groups, and effect on people.

In the context of the scripture, Apostle Paul, gives important instructions on division left on record for all people and leadership; the importance of knowing the spirit of division takes on a growth root issue with self-conceit affecting the ability of person or group to perform at the highest potential to produce positive growth in the environment. In the spiritual scope, it speaks of laboring as one unit, building for the Kingdom of God without division. For instance, personally, I call this, "What-Type-Of-Builder?” It is the ability to know, a wise builder takes heed to building. Knowing one lays the foundation, and another builds on it. But the tools or supplies each builder uses are essential to building on the foundation and must take heed how he or she builds on it. It is an in-depth insight to know the foundation laid has the ability to deteriorate.

Thought to ponder:“The seed of division is sensual which produces only envy, strife, self-gratification, and separation.” It is an in-depth ability to know people who are agents of division, carry a divisive seed of sensuality that takes on the form of superiority, manipulation, and control in the form of pleasing fleshly enjoyment. Therefore, an underlining motive of envy, strife, and self-gratification was always prevalent, but dormant.  At this level, division, begins to stunt positive growth, transforming the environment(s) into segregation, control, and hatred. Producing disharmony. Avoidance and disassociation is the best remedy for these types of agents to reposition the environment for positive growth and unity. Do not wait too late to eradicate, the well-being of the environment depends on it.

What lessons can be learned about "Division” and “Morale?" There are five (5) important lessons. Discovering the "Truth" in "Know," "What," “Where,” and "How is the Environment?"

Lessons Learned About Division and Morale

  1. Know “division” unveils the heart and mind of people. It has a transparency magnitude. What do I see in my environment of influences? Does it have division? If so, where did the seed of division come from?  "How is the environment?" Can I honestly evaluate myself, circle of influences, and affiliations to determine if positive growth has been stunted because of division?  Reflect. Past, present, and future. (Self-Examination)
  2. Know a person's ability to accept or avoid division reveals leadership ability. The first step in an environment of division is visible with a behavioral character of envy. Envy says, “this person has excellence, I do not” or “this person is different that draws positivity.” The behavioral characteristic of envy is malice, malice turns into hatred, therefore, hatred begins to spread like wild fire producing thoughts of violence, violent acts, and control. What do I see in myself? Do I have envy? If so, where did the seed of division come from? How will I guard my spirit from becoming an agent of division? “How is the environment?” Is there envy in the atmosphere of circle of influences and environment. Yes, or No. (Envy Behavioral Management Questionnaire and Envy Diagram)
  3. Know “division” unveils the heart of a person to change for the greater impact globally. The second step in an environment of division is visible with a behavioral magnitude of strife. Strife stems from anger or bitter disagreement over fundamental issues to bring wholeness and well-being. It reveals maturity and immaturity of people and groups overtime. Short-term: Positive morale is increased. Negative morale decreased. Long-term: Positive morale is decreased. Negative morale is increased. What transformation is needed to avoid strife? Do I have strife in my heart? If so, where did the seed of division come from? Does the molding of my character produce positive growth and change? “How is the environment?” Is there strife in the atmosphere of circle of influences and environment effecting the growth development in my life and building positive relationships? Reflect, past, present, and future. (The Effects of Morale in the Environment)
  4. Know the outcome of “division” is self-gratification. What does self-gratification seek? Praise, acknowledgement, and platforms.  It seeks worldly wisdom versus Godly wisdom. It is an enemy with a target to box-in (To prevent someone from acting freely, usually by creating restrictions or obstacles). In this type of environment, you can either accept or reject. What do I see in myself? Is self-gratification prevalent in my circle of influences? If so, where did the seed of division come from? “How is the environment?” Is there an enemy in the camp preventing positive growth in relationship building? (The Effects of Morale in the Environment)
  5. Truth is always revealed in the level of a person's maturity for the greater in society, impacting lives positively. Know “division” main purpose is to separate, control, and destroy unity. What is evident in my relationships and environment? How will I humble myself to hear God’s wisdom and direction in all sincerity? "How is the environment?" Does envy spring forth like wild fire? Does strife spread like cancer? “How is the environment?” Does self-gratification set the stage? “How is the environment?” Does love prevail to produce positive growth, development, and life?  (Envy Behavioral Management Questionnaire)

In closing, know a "seed of division" planted unveils health and well-being; Know envy is an abnormal behavior rooted in resentment; Know “division” unveils leadership ability and maturity in people and groups. Know strife is a revealer of morale. Know you will either accept or reject division. Know a person’s “character” is unveiled through division. Know “division” if not eradicated stunts positive growth and development. Know the “seed of division” can cause a person or group to act in violence and hatred. Know you are not a product of the environment, you are not a product of life trails, and you are not a product of people. Remember, an environment of life is a progressive climate and culture of growth. Change your environment if needed. Change your view if needed. Speak life, grow, and lead! "You Have Value!""You Have Worth!" "You Have Purpose!" "How Is the Environmental Behavior?” “What Seed Do You Carry?”
